A Generous Gift: Haycarb PLC Donates Laptops to Twelve Students of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura

In a heartfelt gesture of corporate social responsibility, Haycarb PLC has recently extended a helping hand to twelve students from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura by donating laptops. Recognizing the importance of access to technology in today’s educational landscape, this initiative aims to empower students and facilitate their academic journey.

Access to digital resources has become an integral part of modern education, enabling students to explore, learn, and connect with the global community. Understanding the challenges faced by students, particularly in these unprecedented times, Haycarb PLC has taken a step forward to support their academic endeavors. In line with their 50th anniversary, the program “Sisu Divi Pahana” was launched by Haycab PLC donating laptop computers to 89 state university students around the country.

The event happened on 28th December 2023 at Hayleys head office with the participation of Mr. Mohan Pandithage, Chairman and Chief Executive of Hayleys Group, Mr. Rajitha Kariyawasan, Managing Director, Haycarb PLC, Directors and Management Team of Haycarb PLC, distinguish invites and students from seven state universities in Sri Lanka.

The twelve recipients from University of Sri Jayewardenepura were selected from the student welfare division of the university under the supervision of Deputy Registrar, Ms. Thushari Malkanthi and Senior Staff Management Assistant, Ms. Ayesha Jayathissa.  The recipients of this generous donation expressed their gratitude for the corporate gesture, highlighting the significant impact it will have on their educational journey. The Director Student Welfare, University of Sri Jayewardenepura Dr. Mahesh Fernando addressed the event mentioning that the laptops are expected to play a crucial role in bridging the digital divide and ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to excel academically.
