The inauguration ceremony of the Orientation program for the new intake of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (2023) was held on the 16 th January 2023 with the participation of the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Prof. S M C U P Subasinghe , Registrar of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Mr.A.B. Weliwita, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, Librarian, Heads of Departments as well as the academic members of the faculty. The ceremony was welcomed by Professor Praneeth Abeysundara, the Chairman of the Orientation Committee who introduced the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to the new students. Followed by, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Prof. S M C U P Subasinghe and Registrar of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Mr.A.B. Weliwita addressed the students on the university culture respectively. The President of the Student Union of the Faculty welcomed the new students by addressing about the student culture at the University. Finally, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Prof.Shirantha Heenkenda addressed the students on the current context of the faculty and the manner in which the faculty and students must move forward with the progressive technology to further improve their university life. The inauguration ceremony was successfully concluded and the Orientation Program will be conducted until the 20 th January 2023.
