Senior Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Vice-Chancellor, USJ appointed to the Association of Commonwealth Universities Council

 

 

 

 

 

Senior Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has been appointed to the Council of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) representing Constituency II (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) for a period of three year from 1st August 2022.

Since its founding in 1913, The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) has gathered more than 500 member institutions from more than 50 Commonwealth nations. Its goal is to advance and facilitate higher education for the betterment of people and society within and outside the Commonwealth.

The ACU strives to address challenges in international higher education through a variety of projects, networks and events, capitalizing on the group’s experience and knowledge. The ACU manages scholarships, offers academic leadership on challenges in the field, encourages collaboration among universities, facilitates exchange of best practices and assists institutions in serving their communities.

Senior Prof. Sudantha Liyanage is a Commonwealth Scholar who obtained his PhD from Cardiff University of Wales, UK. Therefore, this opportunity that involves many stakeholders from the Commonwealth community will present a multitude of benefits for the higher education sector of the country.
